The idea is to look for routes in which is not necessary to restrain and to accelerate much, in which the speed is adapted for the consumption, among other considerations.

The conventional navigators offer the shortest or faster route between two points. This new system suggests that one in which the fuel consumption will be smaller.

One is passages with low number of traffic lights, fast route crossings and incorporations, and where the speed limits are low and the inhabituales retentions. All it reduces the necessity to accelerate or to restrain of abrupt way, and as consequence the fuel mean consumption can descend around a 8.2%, according to the first tests of the device in these routes.

The prototype has been developed by the equipment led by Eva Ericsson, of the Institute Lund de Tecnología of Sweden. The equipment used a data base that gathered 15,437 routes in automobile in Medicon Valley, to the south of Sweden, where is the seat of the institute, in order to describe the highways based on the consumption of fuell.
